Cordless Phone Handset Manufacturers
Cordless phone handset manufacturers today make a dizzying array of models and features to choose from. There are plenty of feature rich models out there, you have color choices too. How about a pink cordless phone handset? These are a little harder to find but even the standard colors of black, gray or the stainless look will look good in just about any home decor.
Okay how about this, you have your cell phone plugged into its charger in the bedroom and you are in the living room watching TV. Now your cell phone rings but you can’t hear it or you do hear it but you can’t get to it in time to answer. Another missed call and another voice mail. That was then….. this is now…
Your cell phone is in the bedroom charging while you watch television in the living room. Your cellphone rings and as if by magic you answer it using your home cordless phone handset. If this is of interest to you (and I don’t know why it wouldn’t be), then check into a cordless phone with bluetooth capabilities. Of course your cell phone must have bluetooth capability for this feature to work. In our home both my wife and I both have cell phones with bluetooth capabilities and our cordless phone handset routes both of our incoming cellular numbers directly to our cordless unit via bluetooth.
Or how about a 2 line cordless phone system? These are great if you have two landlines (maybe one for personal and one for business). A 2 line cordless phone will let you answer calls on both lines as well as allowing you to make calls from either line too.
Another feature that I really like is the multiple handset system. This allows multiple handsets to operate from a single cordless phone base unit. So you don’t have to go to the trouble of putting the correct handset back into the base unit it came with. Buy a multiple handset system and any handset can be plugged into and charged from any of the ‘satellite’ charger units. I really prefer the multiple handset systems. The only drawback is that if you happen to lose power to your house it becomes a slight irritant because you have to take each one of the handsets and plug it into the ‘main’ or ‘home’ unit. Then wait a few seconds while it synchronizes the unit to the base station. It’s pretty simple and only takes a few seconds but if you live in an area with frequent power outages this can be a problem. Another small irritant is that if you do happen to loose power and you didn’t notice it then when the phone rings you can only answer it from the unit connected to the main base charger.
So if you come home and the clocks in your home are all blinking 12:00 indicating a power outage has occurred, be sure to take each one of the handsets and re synchronize it to the base station. Until you do, you will not be able to make or receive calls from the satellite units.
If you wear reading glasses and are tired of having to find your glasses to make a call, then you should consider a big button cordless phone. These units have over sized buttons making them easier to read and easier to punch the numbers in too.
Another feature you may want to consider is a unit with Caller ID. These are great. Okay, I admit I sometimes screen my calls and look at the display to let me know if I should answer or not. This worked great since most telemarketers come up as “Out of Area” or “Unknown” on the Caller ID. But it gets better…. I found a cordless phone handset that actually announces the incoming call numbers. You can’t get any more convenient than this. No need to even get up from my easy chair, just wait until the voice from the cordless announces the number.
The last feature I will mention is a cordless phone with answering machine. For the most convenience, you should consider a cordless phone with answering machine built in. Most of today’s units come with a digital voice recorder and they allow you to check your messages remotely too. So if you want to check for messages on your home phone you can do it from anywhere. This is a really convenient feature. Plus you can record notes to yourself too. Every model I have seen with the built in answering machine also allows you to use the cordless phone handset to change your passwords remotely too.
The Best Cordless Phone Handset
The number of cordless phone handset manufacturers is growing every day. Probably the most popular brands are:
•Panasonic Cordless Phones
•Vtech Cordless Phones
•GE
•Dect
•Uniden
As long as you stick with a name brand you really can’t go wrong. The warranty for most manufacturers are very similar. It’s the feature set within the cordless phone handset you want to be sure of.
